The scholarship provides $500 per semester ($1,000 annually) to the recipient. The award continues from semester to semester as long as the recepient makes satisfactory progress toward the degree. Upon graduation, a search will begin for a new recipient. The award is intended for undergraduate philosophy majors. In the event that no undergraduate philosophy major is eligible, the pool of candidates will be enlarged to include graduate philosophy majors and in the event that no graduate philosophy major is eligible, to students enrolled full-time in the College of Arts and Sciences.
The John Kimmey Scholar is the undergraduate honoree at Honor's Day and receives a stipend of $500. The award is made in the spring semester each year.
A scholarship in honor of Professor Richard Owsley has been developed within the Department of Philosophy and Religion Studies at the University of North Texas. When the fund generates income, an annual award of $500 will be given to one recipient each year.
