TA/TF Meeting with Terra Rowe
Focused on innovative pedagogies beyond lecture/discussion. We will try out the new world-building energy game I and some other energy humanities folk have been working on. If you're not familiar with world-building or are not sure how it may connect to environmental philosophy, I'll leave you with the following quote from one of our collaborators, Brent Ryan Bellamy, for now--and the invitation to explore further through play on Fri:
"We already build the real world together, through our actions and inaction. Thinking about fictional world building--using frameworks, instruments, and measurements--can help us to understand how we might build better ones in the here and now" (Brent Ryan Bellamy, "How to Build a World").
Storytelling like that of Ursula K. Le Guin or Hayao Miyazaki reveals how real-world politics is similarly an act of collective "worldbuilding."
